The Montauk Club
The Montauk Club is a private club open to all. Designed by New York architect Francis H. Kimball, the club was completed in 1891 and features mahogany and stained glass.

Roosevelt Island was acquired by the City of New York in 1828 for use as a penitentiary. It was also home to America's first "Municipal Lunatic Asylum" (1839).

Belvedere Castle
Belvedere Castle (a.k.s. as Fort Belvedere, Belvedere Tower) was designed in 1865 (completed in 1869) by Calvert Vaux and Jacob Wrey Mould. Located on Vista Rock in Central Park, it was originally used as a lookout. The Belvedere Tower later came to house the New York Meteorological Observatory which was founded by Dr. Daniel Draper in 1868. Upon Dr. Draper's retirement in 1912, the United States Weather Bureau took over the observatory.
